Jennifer Trull, Preschool Director

The Lord called Jennifer in November 2020 to be Calvary Baptist Church’s Preschool Director. Jennifer said “yes” to Jesus one night of VBS during her elementary school years. Even though the exact date is blurry, the feeling she had in her heart, and the voice of God she heard with her ears, is something she will never forget.   She and her family have been members of Calvary for 12 years.  Jennifer and her husband, Justin are raising 2 beautiful girls, Skylar (10) and Marleigh (7).  Jennifer loves spending time with her family and friends.  She loves to host and anyone who has met her knows her door is always open.  She values creating strong purposeful relationships, community, and extending help to those in need.  Jennifer loves crafting for fun and has recently taken up drum lessons as her new favorite way to worship our Lord. Jennifer’s love for teaching and guiding children started in her middle and high-school years through serving in children’s ministry. She continues to serve in children’s ministry in Team Kids as well as helping with VBS each summer. She not only has a love for children, she has a love and passion for women and families. She currently serves as a Women’s Ministry Team leader and is a part of the Family Ministry Team.   Jennifer desires every family to experience the love of Christ.

Cheryl Yannett, Lead Teacher (Teal)

Cheryl has been married to her wonderful, hard working husband Steve, for 11 years.  They have 2 beautiful daughters, Olivia (10) and Emma (6).  They consider their girls to be two of their greatest blessings.  Cheryl enjoys family movie nights, riding 4-wheelers, decorating, crafting, and being outdoors.  Cheryl has taught preschool for 4 years now.  She loves watching smiles appear on faces as little ones hit milestones.  Working with children has always been a passion of hers.  Cheryl has been serving in Children’s Ministry for 10 years now.  Throughout her time serving, preschool aged children have always been one of her favorite age groups to work with.  She adores their sweet innocent child-like faith.  Although Cheryl believes that academics and socialization are an important part of a child’s growth, she believes the most important thing, is teaching a child about Jesus and the love He has for them.  She believes there is no greater love than that of our Heavenly Father!  Cheryl is so happy to be a part of Calvary’s Preschool team!

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Joanna and her husband, Steve have been married for 22 years. They have lived in the Wesley Chapel area for 16 years after relocating from Northern Virginia. She has a daughter, Hope who is 14 and her son, Luke who is 11. Her kids keep her very busy but she loves seeing them happy and doing what they love to do when it comes to their activities. Joanna also has two fur kids who she enjoys walking everyday. Joanna enjoys the outdoors, gardening, working out and reading. Joanna and her family attend Transformation Church in Indian Land, SC. One of her favorite things to do each day is to get up early before everyone else to sit with her coffee and do her “Jesus time”. She truly believes it centers her and keeps her focused on God throughout her day.

Joanna’s career started 23 years ago teaching at the elementary level. Over the next 11 years she taught in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades in Virginia and North Carolina. She has also been a literacy teacher for 3s, 4s and TK classes, curriculum developer and staff support for a preschool in the Matthews area. Joanna has a Bachelor’s of Education from West Virginia University. She also has a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Literacy from George Mason University. Joanna’s number one goal for her children in her class is to feel loved and know they are special in their own unique way. Joanna loves to witness “light bulb” moments with her students as well.

Two verses she lives by are:
Phillippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.
1 Corinthians 16:14 - Let all that you do be done in love.

micah.jpg

Micah is the teacher assistant in the Green Room. Micah was born and raised here in Union County. She has been married to the love of her life, Daniel for 16 years. God gave them three amazing sons, Michael (age 14), Matthew (age 9), and Morgan (age 7). She has been blessed to be able to homeschool her children from the beginning. Micah enjoys hanging out with family and friends, reading, singing, and writing. It’s the little things in life that mean so much.

Her entire childhood she attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. As a young adult she strayed from the church. But in 2015, she gave her life to Christ. She prayed for God to use her. To show her where she should serve him. In 2016, she began leading the Youth at Mt. Zion. God has given her a love for children. From Sunday School, Choir practice, Christmas Plays or Bible Study it is her heart’s desire to share Jesus with the kids. There is no greater joy for her than getting to lead children to Christ.

Micah is so excited to start this new adventure at Calvary Baptist Church Preschool. To see the joy in the eyes of children as they learn and play, is priceless. Getting to tell them all about Jesus and his love for them is extra icing on the cake. Micah is looking forward to all that God has in store this year at Calvary. May his blessings fall like rain.

Mark 10:14, Jesus says, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

Rebecca is very excited to begin this new chapter and looks forward to all the Lord has planned.

Jeanette Winslow, Assistant Teacher (Blue )

A message from Jeanette:

To say that I am thrilled to be on the CBC Preschool team is an understatement. It is time of new beginnings and nothing thrills me more than being a part of such an important ministry for children. I have served several churches in the Charlotte and surrounding area, as both a preschool teacher and administrator of weekday programs. As I have become semi-retired, this opportunity as an assistant teacher in the 4 yr. old class, will be the perfect fit for me.

My son, daughter and grandchildren are my world. God is so good and the blessings have overflowed throughout my life. Psalm 139 is my favorite verse of Scripture. It has strengthened and comforted me over and over again. Loving and nurturing God’s children has been such a great joy! Can’t wait to get the year started.
